Eleanor Williams Cunningham was born February 24, 1925. She was the fourth child of the late Mack and Clara Norris who lived on a small farm in Saluda County, South Carolina.
Eleanor began her education in the neighborhood school and completed high school at Vorhees Junior College as Valedictorian of her class. She continued her education on an academic scholarship and received a degree in Home Economic education. She graduated as Suma Cum Lauda at South Carolina State University. She received a master's degree in administration and Supervision from New York from New York Anniversary. Eleanor did further studies at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY.
Eleanor spent most of her helping girls and boys to educate themselves and love life. She received many honors and awards for services rendered and was a teacher trainer for South Carolina State University and Benedict College for twenty years.
Eleanor was an avid sports fan and was awarded the letter "S" for basketball at SC State University. She was a successful coach and won several trophies and respect in the Midlands by playing in the state finals.

Eleanor was loved her smiles will be missed. She leaves the following to cherish her beautiful long life two loving sons', Brendan Cunningham, Spartanburg, SC and William Lenaire Cunningham, Spartanburg, SC: two loving grandsons, James Chase Cunningham of Spartanburg, SC and Zachary I. James of Grier, SC; one living sister, Jessie Delores Simmons, Batesburg, SC, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
